HSBC Personal Banking offers a range of bank accounts with online banking 24/7. Activate your card; Apply for Phone Banking. Credit Cards: Loans. Loans, mortgages, savings, investments and credit cards. Skip page header and navigation; Personal & Business. Find the right credit card for you. Over the weekend at the mall, I fell for the salesperson's trap and opted to apply for a credit card (HBC Mastercard) to save an additional 15% on my purchase. Looking back I realize it was a mistake. The thing is I really didn't need another card. I have 5 cards total right now and use 3 of them actively (one of them is purely used in the US). On top of that it's a capital one credit card, which I already have (the aspire cashback which is 1.5%). The question is, a credit pull already has been done with the application, is there additional harm if I went ahead and cancelled the card before activating? Or would cancelling the card take another hit on my credit? In which case I should just hold on to the card? Since it's a capital one card, could they just transfer the balance to the older one and cancel this new one? Any advice would be appreciated. ![]()
